Spring/Summer 2022 trends you need to know

Is anyone ready to pack away the coats and embrace the new season, and of course, our new favorite spring fashion pieces?

SS22’s looks are more light-hearted, nostalgic, and celebratory than we have seen for quite some time.

In fact, the new season trends, depicted by AN Team, are all about ultra micro-mini skirts, vibrant Pantone colors, bras as top, ’00s low-rise waists, (and yes, more cut-out)… and much more!

Ready to skip the rest of winter and plan your spring wardrobe!

These are the 10 fashion trends that will be everywhere as soon as spring hits.

1. Lime Green

Lime Green is everywhere on the SS22 runways while proclaiming itself Pantone of the blooming season.

The acid hue has made its way into fancy party dresses, as showcased at Valentino’s, Erdem’s, Christian Siriano’s fashion shows, and elevated summer-y looks at Stella McCartney and Prabal Gurung’s catwalks.

2. Mini Skirts

We have to admit it, mini skirts, (the micro-mini kind) have been an extravagant element reintroduced on the runways. We are kinda here for it.

Of course, Miu Miu’s utility-style has gone viral and it is taking over for its nostalgia factor, but minis are also trending as part of high-waisted skirt suits (Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors), athleisure-inspired looks (Dior) and they made a bold statement at Prada’s, Saint Laurent’s and Brandon Maxwell’s runways.

3. Halternecks

Crisscross and halterneck are all over the spring-summer ’22 runway, from halterneck tops which were the highlights at the Rejina Pyo’s, Christian Siriano’s, Chanel’s fashion shows, to dresses, (Michael Kors, Valentino, Dior, Tory Burch) or even catsuits (Saint Laurent).

We must confess that this trend is giving us already a beach vacation/holiday mood, so need it!

4. Low Rise

My dearest readers, low-rise bottoms are back!

For those who are adventurous spirits, we suggest going for matching midriff sets, à la Isabel Marant, Versace, and Brandon Maxwell, or mix and match your look for a less ‘put together’ vibe, (as Tom Ford perfectly stated in his show).

5. Bras as Tops!

Are you ready for this? The crop top piece is reaching the next level this season for the pleasure of the most fearless fashionistas.

AN team suggests wearing it with a high-waisted skirt or, alternatively, going for triangular-shaped bras that you can layer underneath longer coats and jackets, ( as shown at Fendi’s, Tom Ford’s, Coach’s fashion shows).

6. Butter-Yellow

If you prefer pastel tones to bright hues, you’ll be glad to know that spring/summer 2022 also has a softer trendy color to add to your wardrobe: warm, buttery yellow.

We have seen this soft hue fluctuating on maxi skirts at Chloè’s and Proenza Schouler’s shows, but also it featured coordinated crop tops at Max Mara’s and sleek lightweight overcoats at Jil Sanders’s.

This chic shade is here to stay.

7. Fringes Goodness

Make the most of flippy skirts and dresses this season.

Go for super shimmery, slinky strands for evening events as seen at Rodarte’s and Fendi’s catwalks or, slightly thicker fringes in neutral shades for daytime wear, (Chloé and  Proenza Schouler mastered it at their spring shows!).

8. Bright- co-ords

If you are a matchy matchy girl this trend is for you!

The runways are leaning into loose collared shirts (worn buttoned up, or open to reveal a bikini top underneath), with twinning shorts.

For the city-slicker take – go for longer hemlines and fitted silhouettes in psychedelic prints.

9. Feathers

Strawberry milk feathers have popped up at various shows this season (David Koma, Giambattista Valli, Prabal Gurung), bringing a party vibe to the runway. Who doesn’t need a party? Let’s celebrate the good sunny season!

10. Cutouts

Cutouts are backkk!!!

Their first appearance was back in SS21. This spring they are back and bolder.

Elegant dresses are adorned by cutouts given to them a fun twist, from Proenza Schouler, Giambattista Valli, passing through David Koma and Christian Siriano.

Cutouts come in all sizes and shapes as displayed at Stella McCartney’s and Saint Laurent’s catwalks.

This means there is a style for everyone interested in trying the trend this spring.
