Couture with its imagery, reference, and stimulation has always attracted a mesmerizing audience, despite its exclusivity and snob appeal.
Garments, once shown directly to a few clients, are now the center of media attention across the globe.
The Fall 2022 season was less about establishing trends than remixes, in fact, many designers revisited archives, making past fashion available to a young audience, thirsty for them. In this contest, Couture Shows seem to become more democratic and modern.
AN Team carefully analysed each fashion show and, with its thrilling eyes, depicted upcoming trends and intrinsic meanings behind them.
We hope you enjoy your reading of the article!
1. Party Train
A train adds a lady-like couture touch even to bodycon looks as we spotted on Balenciaga’s, Alexandre Vauthier’s, Elie Saab’s, Alexis Mabille’s, Giambattista Valli’s, and Schiaparelli’s Fall 22 shows. Dramatic trains took centre stage in many Couture shows and we loved the contrast with more fitted dress silhouettes.

2. Mesh is more
Open work element was presented in many garments as sprinkling of diamond dust, which adorned looks at Armani Prive’, Valentino and Fendi, or as a bolder mesh, like in Balenciaga’s and Giambattista Valli’s garments.

3. Contour Control
Emphasised curves are having a comeback, exquisitely celebrated at Jean Paul Gaultier’s show by Oliver Rousting, but also reclaimed by other Couture designers such as Alexandre Vauthier, Schiaparelli, Chanel, and Dior.

4. Feathers mania!
Feathers are confirmed as a bold trend in the Fall 2022 Couture Show. This season designers delighted in plumage-like textures.
We have seen feathers adorning spectacular garments in several shows at Valentino’s, Balenciaga’s, Giambattista Valli’s, Elie Saab’s and Rahul Mishra’s shows.

5. La vie en Rose
Drapery was in bloom this season as shown at Valentino’s, Schiaparelli’s, Elie Saab’s, Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda’s Couture shows.

6. Shirt tales
When business meets pleasure in luxe shirt…
This was accomplished in different shows, such as Valentino’s, with its vibrant coloured chiffon shirts, but also in Jean Paul Gaultier’s, where asymmetrical silhouettes shirts were presented and Alexis Mabille’s spectacular couture show. Remarkable was Giambattista Valli’s couture collection, where a glorious parade of statement shirts, accessorized with fabulously oversized butterfly sunglasses and glittery chandelier earrings, stole the scene.

7. Romantic Silhouettes
Haute Couture is an intimate practice. There was a sense of gentleness and reserve in the color palette of white, black, and pale beige this season for the French Maisons, Dior, and Chanel.
The French Fashion Houses offered romantic collections, less rigid.
At Dior’s collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, all the glory was in the intricate surface patterns, resembling flowers such as the iconic Dior roses. They were marveously worked into lace patchwork, embellished with beaded embroidery.
Chanel’s Couture Collection, on the other hand, gravitated around linear shapes, drop-waisted dresses, showcasing amazing textiles: a shower of embroidered leaves, realised by highly skilled hand. This created a sense of gentle flow, in other world, pure Couture.

8. Back Talk
If train on a dress is not your cup of tea, no worries! Interesting back volumes are having their bold debuts on Balenciaga’s and Maison Margiela’s Couture shows.
This means there are a Couture Trend and Meaning for everyone who is willing to engange in this enchanting world…

” Sex and the City” is back, and we can’t help but wonder… no, what happened to Samantha or if Carrie and Mr Big stay together – but if Carrie’s still, after all these years, wearing her signature nameplate necklace.
