Max Mara AW2020

Now that bikini season has come to a close, it’s time to get your autumn wardrobe ready! Whether you are looking to invest in a fancy new coat, or a cosy cashmere jumper, look no further than Max Mara.

The autumn winter collection that walked the runway in February, was inspired by the sea. Ian Griffiths, the creative director behind the elegant and timeless Italian brand, imagined ‘the Max Mara woman sitting at her desk in the humdrum office and dreaming of running away to sea for adventure’.

The nods to the nautical can be spotted on the house flagship Teddy coat, presented in navy on beige mariniere striping. The Teddy shot to icon status on its debut in 2013 and to this day, it’s a winter must-have. The cocoon-like cut and plush alpaca hair and silk fleece, will keep you warm on the coldest of days.

If you are looking for more of a classic style coat, why not opt for a grey double-breasted cashmere one, with ruffles going down the sleeves. It will look as good thrown over a slip dress as it does atop a turtleneck knit.

If after months of working from home, you are finally heading back to the office, what’s more sophisticated that strutting into your first meeting in a pinstripe suit? A menswear classic, traditionally worn by British bankers, this ensemble filtered its way through the sartorial world and landed in our wardrobe. Subtle yet sleek, it will give you an instant air of power and confidence. If you don’t feel like committing to such a strong look, wear the blazer and trousers on their own, it will work just as well.

As for a dress, rejoice in Max Mara’s careful balance of comfort and elegance, with this brown shirt dress. Languid and effortless, it’s made in Italy from virgin wool, with an oversized silhouette with dropped shoulders and long sleeves. Temper the shape by accessorizing it with a statement rope belt, and you are ready to go.
